Coronavirus and Real Estate
Last week our team hosted a live Facebook chat regarding the changes that we were seeing and implementing based on the most up-to-date news regarding COVID-19. As we all know, new information is coming daily (and sometimes hourly)! Here are some of the updates that Buss-Todd-DeBacco Properties plans to implement into our business.
Open Houses / Showings
Given the current environment and social distancing mandates and recommendations, we are temporarily discouraging (though not prohibiting) Open Houses. Any governmental or public health guidance that would prohibit or limit this activity should always be followed. We are still actively marketing and promoting all of our listings.
While respecting our clients wishes and those of visitors, we can take individual showing appointments. If available, we will be providing hand sanitizer at the entrance for all visitors to use before entering, and we will ask all visitors walking into the home to avoid touching surfaces. We can also offer FaceTime / virtual showings for anyone who would like.
Termination of Pending Purchase and Sale Contracts
The best thing to do is to advise the client in writing to consult with a lawyer.
Walk Through Inspections
With respect to all parties involved, walk-through inspections can still take place under the guidelines put out by the CDC.
Wire Fraud Reminder
Fraudsters look at times of crisis as the perfect opportunity to feed off a climate of concern. Please stay vigilant for fraudulent communications that refer to something that may seem legitimate such as a change of instructions because the original bank is affected by a quarantine. A good reminder for all of us during this time is to let our guards down and always call to confirm wire instructions from a verified number (not a number in an email).
As more news progresses regarding our business, we will update our client base. Stay safe and be well!
